Outdoor living in the South of France…

Enjoy the glorious views from the open-plan outdoor spaces at Chez Montagnes, looking out towards the surrounding foothills of the Pyrenees and picturesque Aude countryside.

The villa offers several comfortable places to relax on those lazy holiday evenings. Cook some toulouse sausage on the charcoal barbecue, grill some vegetables on the plancha, pour a glass of wine and dine on the sun sail covered terrace or leafy courtyard.

For some time out of the sun, head over to the water garden shaded by the trees with a bistro table and swing seat. Find out more about our pool and gardens below.

The Pool

The pool, measuring 8m x 4m, is open May through September inclusive. It is not heated, we let the sun do its work during the hotter months and the summer pool cover (which we ask you to pull over at night) keeps the heat in and nature out. There is an alarm for your safety.

We have several poolside sun-loungers, sun umbrellas and other outdoor furniture for you to relax in on the south-facing patio and lots and lots of inflatables in the pool house, take your pick!

Kick back and relax, you’re at your new home from home!

The Summer Kitchen

Who doesn’t enjoy cooking al fresco?

Our summer kitchen has a charcoal barbecue, new ‘Big Horn’ flat plate or plancha, fridge/freezer and a bar. Our natural stone sink is a beautiful feature. Take a seat at the bar and grab a drink while your designated chef cooks up a storm! Our summer kitchen sits between the courtyard and balcony.

We provide complementary charcoal and BBQ utensils to get you started.

The Balcony

Our south-facing balcony, perching above the pool, has beautiful mountain views, a dining table that seats 8, a chiminea and looks onto the summer kitchen. You can access the poolside terrace directly down our wrought iron staircase. A sun sail provides welcome shade during the summer months.

It’s our favourite spot for long lazy lunches, some rosé from a local vineyard, and fresh baguettes from the mobile boulangerie surrounded by endless blue skies & the wild nature of the Pyrenees. (More details about the mobile boulangerie who delivers fresh croissants and anciennes to our door in the guidebook, provided upon booking).

Don’t want the night to end? Light the chiminea when the evenings are a little chillier.

The Water Garden

The water garden is a tranquil little spot tucked away from everything else, a place to grab a few moments of calm away from…. everyone actually, shhh!

There’s a small pond, bistro table with 2 chairs and a swing seat. A space to find lots of shade in the summer, or surround yourself with lots of of the oranges and yellows of leaves in autumn. We love getting lost in a book in this spot.

The Courtyard

The courtyard is surrounded by beautiful foliage and has direct access to the summer kitchen and balcony.

Dine here at our rattan dining set seating 6 with canopy. It’s the perfect spot to keep an eye on how the barbecue is coming along or chance a glass of local vin rouge by candlelight.
